A master brake cylinder is a pressure producing cylinder in a motor vehicle which is actuated by the brake pedal via a tappet. The tandem master brake cylinder ensures by means of two pressure chamber the separation of the two independent braking circuits. When the brake pedal is operated by the driver, the slide transmits the force of the foot on the plunger. This is moved in the direction of brake pipe. The primary cup runs over the compensating hole. Thereby the pressure chamber is closed and a braking pressure is generated. When brake pedal is released, the brake pressure pushes - supported by a spring - the pressure piston in its initial position. The primary cuff folds forward, allowing the brake fluid, running on the infill drilling of the plunger.
