The brake caliper ensures during the braking that the brake lining gets into contact with the disc brake pads and thus a reduction in speed occurs. This is mounted on the brake disc and housed on the inside of the brake pads. Brake calipers are usually made of cast iron and there are three different forms, the fixed caliper, the caliper and the spherical seat. By a different arrangement of the hydraulic pistons a uniform wear of the brake linings is guaranteed. The accumulating side is the side on which the disc is in contact first and thereby it has a greater braking effect. The running side, however, can be adjusted by a piston so that the wear of the parts to equalize again.
